First off, you start a propoganda campaign against the fleas. Say they could be doing any of that following:
carrying disease (biological weapons) harboring fleas who have attacked you in the past etc, etc...
You can get the world to help you now.
Well, all the world apart from France, and Russia, and Germany, and China, and all the Arab states, and all the Muslim states...
Eeek. We had similar problems once after I had been making friends with a cat at a party, and the fleas decided to travel home on my clothes.
Sadly, all I can suggest is the toxic-chemical-and-hoover treatment. Well, that or moving house. Which might actually be easier ;)
I have two cats, so I'm kinda used to the problem. Every frickin' summer...
I can strongly recommend Frontline stuff, you can get it from most vets and some supermarkets. I suggest you treat your bed mattress too. Blasting the affected rooms will help, but you will need to target specific 'nesting sites', e.g. your sofa and your bed. In the night, when you're all cozy, warm and snuggled up under your duvet, so are they.
It's a long hard war of attrition. Good Luck, soldier. *salutes*
hahaha random! today on AIM, I didnt know that was you! I thought it was a guy named "Random" from some rpg's i play, and so I didnt say anything. oops!
I thought you were rather silent... it was a bit crushing after I was feeling so pleased with myself for getting the damn software to work.
Ah well. Next time.
Eeek our cat is in our flat almost 24/7 and we've never had a breakout like you describe. Yeah sure I go through phases of getting bitten, but after a couple of flea bombs, spraying the carpets and defluffing the cat (none of which he likes) we were normally clear.
The rather worrying thing is we can't use flea collars on him anymore as he's now allergic to the stronger toxins they use on them. But we are into April without any worries after using a cream along his back (from the vet)
Generally I can tell if the cat has fleas and he usually lets me comb them straight off (then I get to drown the fuckers) but you would have thought you'd caught all the nesting areas by now?!? and since Sept?? geez that just makes me squirm at how many we might not have caught here ..
We were free and clear from late October until just recently. I reckon it's the warm weather hatching eggs that's brought the problem back.
I guess you're less vulnerable if you actually own a cat as you know you're at risk and can take precautions. We were wide-eyed innocents...

I bet you're really looking forward to Easter weekend - you and L will be sleeping on the cats' futon!

Hi Susan!
There are two things worrying me about this scenario - the cats will affect not to notice us and sleep on the futon regardless, or they will notice us and decide to wee on us to prove whose futon it is really ... (only joking.)
Interestingly the fleas don't come near me, it's very rare I even get bitten, and even while A is covered in big red itchy bites, I just get little, not itchy, nearly invisible bites. But he's allergic to everything in the whole world.
I promise to give him a spray and put on his flea collar so he doesn't come and give fleas to your cats (only joking, Andy...)
