Extremes Apr. 14th, 2003|12:26 am

So this is a little bizarre. I'm sitting here writing this in a shirt from Malta and a fleece from Iceland, the two extremes of Europe, northerly and southerly.

The fleece I bought in Reykjavik when we went there last year. You want good cold weather clothes, go to a cold country and buy what the locals wear. The shirt takes a little more explaining, as it's a replica shirt for one of Malta's top soccer teams, Birkirkara FC. My parents brought it back for me when they went over there last month and I collected it today when I went to visit them for the first time since they got back. The last time I was in Malta we watched Birkirkara in a European match against a team from Moscow, nearly-but-not-quite scoring an upset result. So now I keep an eye out for how they're doing and when Mum and Dad wanted to know what to bring back for me, I asked for a shirt. Trouble is, it's violent yellow and red vertical stripes, which is a bit of a shock to the system since I don't usually do colour - I tend to stick to black and grey and white mostly. Also the sponsors' logos are all over the front of the shirt - McDonald's (oh the shame of it) and a Maltese men's toiletries range called Men Only. Which of course is the name of a porn mag over here. Oh joy.

However it's not all bad - on the back is the logo of Maltese beer brand Cisk. Mmmmmmm Cisk - it's good stuff :o)

I realise this rambles more than I usually do and is of minimal interest to anyone at all, but I just thought it was bizarre to be sitting here in clothes from the extremes of Europe.

Oh, and there's this, which I'm absurdly pleased about:

Which "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" character are you?

You are Giles
