Hard labour [Feb. 22nd, 2003|10:55 pm]

[Feeling |sleepy]

Knackered. Shattered. Dog tired. Spent the day with Lisa on the allotment trying to avoid digging and mostly failing. Came home to a pizza and champagne... me and Lisa, twelve years together today. (Pause for soundtrack to provide suitable music, probably swelling strings but not too soppy please...)

Also, spent about three quarters of an hour on the phone to people at the T-Party during the slave auction (EEEEK at the phone bill). [info]gerriparker read some words I'd prepared to everyone then passed the phone around. I spoke to Julz, MonSTeR, Keeny, Morph, Red and Ethan, and VG. Came away tremendously moved and humbled by what was said (particularly Julz, who I've never actually spoken to before offline) and felt like a total heel for walking out on them.

It sounds like they've having a really good time up there and I'm glad. I look forward to reading the write-ups in various journals when the hangovers wear off...

And thanks to Spike for organising the auction and Gerri for being such a sport. I gather she particularly enjoyed the 'encitement to revolt' stipulation, but was rightly narked by being made to buy her own drink...

Here's what I got her to read out:

Random can't be here tonight for a variety of reasons, but mostly because he's a grumpy old sod who hates parties and usually heads for the kitchen to hide in. Since he knew he wouldn't be here, and suspected there wouldn't be a kitchen, he bought me in the auction to say a few things for him.

Some of you will know that he's left T21. Don't take it personally. He still feels he has a lot of good friends among the members and the staff and he hopes that will continue. The first task he's set for me as his slave tonight is to raise a glass to all of you and wish you good health, an enjoyable party, and a pain-free morning after. So someone give me a drink please 'cause I don't see why I should have to pay to do this.

With that done, the next thing he's instructed me to do is wander around for a while with a phone and put a few of you onto him. So when I'm finished here, I'll be doing that.

Finally, he wants me to say that as a liberal he doesn't approve of slavery. Therefore once he's spoken to a few people he's going to give me my freedom early, but on one condition. That I go round the other slaves and attempt to entice them into revolting against their masters, and that I explain to the masters the error of their ways.

And that's all. Have fun and be safe.

I think Gerri was very nervous on your behalf, because the paper had to be held for her as her hand was shaking so much :)

Sorry you couldn't make it, but you were definately there in spirit.

Nerves? Could have been. But I'm sure Tequila Slammers were mentioned... :oD

So we meet again for the first time, for the last time, but over the phone!!! Or something like that ? ;)

Sorry about the bill though...

It does have to be said that some of us got a little tearful at the scene-stealing speach !!! :D And we're all glad that even if you won't be spending more time on T21, you did spend time there in the past :)

Not the last time, mate. Most emphatically not the last time.
