Choices and changes [Feb. 4th, 2003|10:45 am]
[Feeling |Fragile]
[Reading |Freya North, Polly. Oooh she's a daft mare.]

How cool is this? Multiple choice stamps. First time I heard the idea I thought it was really naff but as I worked on the pages for the Royal Mail website I actually decided I rather liked them. And since they go on sale today I guess I can finally post this image, even though the site pages aren't live yet.

Anyway, we now return you to our regularly scheduled programming following that commercial break...

Was off sick yesterday, picked up some sort of bug or food poisoning or something that had me - well, you don't want the details, trust me on that. Got my hair cut on Saturday but no-one seems to have noticed. I'm not surprised - I shaved off three months' worth of beard over Christmas and no-one, not even my family, seemed to notice the difference.

And in the void... emptiness [Feb. 4th, 2003|12:00 pm]
[Feeling |annoyed]

Freeparking.co.uk, which we use to hold all our domains, has apparently taken its servers down for a migration. Or something. Which means none of our domains work at the moment although the sites, tucked away in odd corners of free webspace here and there, are fine. But the link to my homepage on the left is dead for example.

As part of our ongoing investment program we migrated our main database servers to our new data center on 2nd February 2003 at 22:00 EST. Unfortunately this meant a short amount of downtime for all freeparking.co.uk, domain-parking.net and customer forwarding sites. Over the coming weeks we shall be migrating all our web, mail and
application servers to our new data center, however these further migrations should be seamless and further downtime is not envisaged at this stage. Our investment in infrastructure means that we shall shortly be announcing
exciting enhancements and new services as part of our domain registration packages.

Seems to me that 10pm on the second is quite a while ago now. We're going to have to bite the bullet and get some sort of proper hosting deal. Anyone got any recommendations? Ideally we need somewhere we can host several sites, each with their own domain, and where we can use PHP / MySQL (I know we don't use them at the moment, but I have ambitions to learn...)

2.20pm edit: Freeparking seems to have got its act together again and all is working now.

Another one bites the dust [Feb. 4th, 2003|04:45 pm]
I think I may have to kill off another one of my another.com addresses due to spam - I'm getting loads of pornographic stuff. So, if you have andy@hotmale.co.uk in your address book, replace it with the one in my profile here.
