my name is jamie. i am eighteen years old and a freshman at luther college in decorah, iowa. i am a vocal music education major with a psychology minor. my roommates are awesome and i couldn't have asked for better ones. i'm originally from a small city in wisconsin called nekoosa. for some reason, people are impressed with nekoosa because of the name. apparently it's fun to say or something.

when i'm not at school i live with my parents and younger brother, mikey. my parents have been together for nineteen years. i was born almost a year after my parents met. my younger brother, mikey, is going to be ten in october. i love my younger brother to death. he is far too smart for his age and just a cute kid to talk to.

i have been vegetarian since january 1, 2005. i just recently gave up eating seafood, becoming a full fledged vegetarian. my best friend has been vegetarian for two years and he's helped me along the way.

i graduated june 5, 2005, as a proud member of the nekoosa highschool class of 2005. while in highschool, i met some of the greatest people i'll ever know and i count myself lucky to have spent four years at that school. sure, i didn't realize how much i liked it at the time, but looking back on it, there are a lot of things i miss already. i knew the majority of my peers and i loved much of the staff.

while in highschool, you could find me in either the band or choir room. while my time in the band room waned once i joined choir my junior year, i was always in that area of the school. by joining choir, i realized my true potential in music thanks to the wonderful julie stoffel. i miss her more than anyone from highschool, mainly because of how much she helped me find myself. i owe her a lot.

i have the most awesome friends in the world, and if you don't agree with me, i will fight you. i will. my friends helped me through so many different dramas that i found myself in during the past few years and i love them so much for sticking with me through it all. i have so many different inside jokes with all of them and i'm glad that i met and befriended them. during my senior year in highschool, i met so many new people and befriended so many and i'm sad to know that i only was able to spend such a short time with them. they are truly great people.

now, if my friends are awesome, my best friend is awesome..er. while i'm not entirely sure how or why zach and i became best friends, i wouldn't trade him for anything. he is the only person that knows me inside and out, knows what i'm thinking, can finish my sentences, and knows when i need him - even if he's on the other side of the country. zach knows what's wrong with me just by the tone of the voice or the expression on my face. he can make me laugh or smile when all i want to do is curl up and die. he has dragged me kicking and screaming through so many ordeals in the past few years and i love him more and more everyday. while i know there's a chance that we won't be will and grace, i hope that we'll be in each other's lives forever. at this moment in time, i really don't know what i'd do without him.

kelly complained, so she gets a whole little section to herself. isn't she just so darn special. i met kelly a long time ago when we were in, like, seventh grade. she sat behind me in health and would constantly show me a picture of her boyfriend at the time, chris, who she claimed to be very hot. he wasn't. i haven't seen him since he graduated, so who knows - he might be hot now. but he wasn't when we were in seventh grade. i didn't get to know her until freshman year. we walked around together before the homecoming parade. i thought she was badass. about five minutes in to our "hanging out" session, i realized she wasn't. she still isn't. haha, but seriously. kelly's pretty great and she's always been there for me when i was down. and we also drew uteruses (uteri?) at the coffee house. you know you have a great friend if you can draw female reproductive organs in public and not feel like a complete idiot.

music is my life. as i said earlier, i'm thinking about changing my major to music, which is becoming easier every day. i play the clarinet (as well as a whole slew of other instruments) and i love to sing. if i do switch my major, i'll either go into music performance on my clarinet or vocal music education. my only setback is that i'm not "fluent" on the piano, something that i've been working on the past year or so. music is more than just a way to express myself - it's a way of life. it is amazing to be able to look at a page of notes and be able to put feeling and life into them. to me, music is more powerful than words will ever be.

relating to music, i am an absolute drum corps fanatic. i am partial to the cavaliers and blue stars. zach has marched color guard in the blue stars for the past two years and i'm hoping to join him in the 2006 summer season. i'm not sure what i'll do, but that's part of the fun. i have family that have marched the cavaliers and pioneer, so i have quite a following.
